Frequently asked questions
3D printing is a modern manufacturing process that builds objects layer by layer from a digital file. It allows you to create complex, custom parts without expensive tooling or long lead times.
Here’s how it works:
We start off with a digital 3D model file.
We prepare it for printing using specialized software
Our industrial 3D printers create the object using polymer filament, one layer at a time
We clean, finish, and quality-check every part before dispatch

If you can imagine it, chances are we can design and 3D print it. Here are just a few real-world applications our clients use 3D printing for:
🚜 Agricultural parts – affordable spares and custom tools for planting, harvesting or processing.
🛠 Mining spares – replace hard-to-find components quickly, or create custom parts to improve processes.
🏛 Architectural models – visualize buildings with detail and precision.
🚗 Automotive spares – replacement parts, or enhanced custom parts to improve your vehicle.
🏢 Corporate branding – signage, custom awards, display pieces.
🎨 Exhibition models – show-stopping models for tradeshows and pitches.
⚙️ Mechanical components & prototypes – test your invention or design before production.
🏭 Industrial spares – keep your production line running efficiently with replacement parts or improve your production with custom parts.
📦 Enclosures & custom jigs – for electronics, assembly, and tooling.
🧠 Educational & medical models – for teaching, training, or planning.
Not sure if your idea can be printed? 👉 Send us a message or book a free consult—we’ll guide you.
The time required to 3D print a part depends on its size, complexity, and material. Small and simple parts can be printed in a few hours, while larger or intricate designs may take a day or more. We work efficiently to deliver high-quality prints as quickly as possible. Get in touch using our quotation form, email, or WhatsApp to get your creation journey started.
Getting started is easy. We’ve made the process simple whether you’re ordering one part or preparing for mass production.
1️⃣ Get a Quotation for you design?
To get a quote for an existing design simply send us your 3D model file via WhatsApp, email, or our submission form.
Accepted 3D model formats:
.step /.stp (preferred format for assemblies or multiple parts)
.stl (preferred format for single parts) (please send each part as a separate file)
.obj (please send each part as a separate file)
.3mf
.blend.
Don’t have a 3D model file? You can use our 3D modelling service, or browse millions of ready-made models at yeggi.com.
2️⃣ Need a Custom Design?
If your part doesn’t exist yet, we offer professional 3D modeling services to design it exactly to your specifications.
Share pictures, sketches, or descriptions with dimensions, and we’ll assist you in creating a 3D model.
If you have a big idea for your design or project, give us a call or book an appointment so we can discuss how to bring your idea to life!
3️⃣ Reverse Engineering & Replication
Do you have an existing part that you need replicated or reverse-engineered?
Send us a picture for an initial assessment.
If suitable for 3D printing, bring it to our office for precise measurement and recreation.
3D printing utilizes a variety of materials; from thermoplastics, to metals to composites. At 3D Productions we currently offer several types of high quality thermoplastics that are suited to a variety of applications. This page provides more information of our available materials. With our years of experience 3D printing over 1000 parts, you can rely on us to pick the best material for your application.
Poly Lactic Acid (PLA) | PLA is ideal for the fast and reliable printing of parts and prototypes with a high quality surface finish and decent strength. The primary drawbacks of PLA are it's lack of flexibility and low service temperature of 60C. Material properties:
|
|---|---|
Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG) | Good layer adhesion gives PETG parts great overall strength making it a suitable material for mechanical applications. UV resistance also allows PETG parts to be used outdoors. Chemically resistant, slightly flexible and food safe. A versatile material that is suitable for both decorative and functional parts. Material properties:
|
Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) | SBS is a synthetic rubber derived from styrene and butadiene, exhibiting properties of both plastic and rubber. It is lightweight, UV resistant, impact resistant, moderately flexible and food safe, making it a versatile material. Material properties:
|
Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) | TPU is a rubber like material that has excellent layer adhesion making it extremely durable with near isotropic mechanical properties. It is also a flexible material making it suitable for applications that require flexibility, high durability, and chemical resistance. Material properties:
|
Carbon fiber filled Nylon (PA6 - CF) | PA6-CF outperforms almost every 3D printing material, offering extreme durability, strength, and heat resistance, featuring a heat deflection temperature of 210°C. Material properties:
|
